Hazeldean Mall offers Safe “Alternative” Halloween

OTTAWA, 30 October 2020 – Hazeldean Mall has joined forces with Kodiak Snow Removal to create a safe Halloween alternative to traditional trick or treating.

The event, a combination of drive-by Halloween float displays and treat donation will assure 500 carloads of children will get a safe socially distanced Trick or Treating experience this year.

“Kids of all ages are missing social connection and celebration.  We are excited about bringing back some of that joy,” said Bryan Yorke, Marketing Manager of Regional Group.  “As a mall with deep ties to the community, Hazeldean was eager to join forces with Kodiak Snow Removal and local merchants to step up to the challenge of creating something unique and socially responsible. “

Tickets for this first-time event were made available for free to the first 500 people to sign up. All spots were reserved in less than 8 hours.

The Drive-Thru Trick or Treating Celebration will take place in the Hazeldean Mall parking lot on Saturday, October 31st between 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Volunteers from Kodiak Snow Removal will direct traffic to view their creatively decorated trucks. Candy gift bags for all registered guests, provided by Hazeldean Mall and Laura’s Your Independent Grocer, and colouring books donated by Pearle Vision, will be responsibly dispensed to visitors through car windows at the end of the parade.

Visitors are asked to enter the Hazeldean parking lot via the Carbrooke Road and Abbeyhill Drive entrances and exit onto Eagleson Road.
