President & CEO
Steve Gordon President & CEO
Steve Gordon has been president and CEO of Regional Group since 1982 and is actively involved in every facet of the company’s real estate assets and pipeline. During his tenure at Regional, he has shaped the company into a truly integrated real estate platform. His visionary and entrepreneurial approach to real estate has been the driver behind many of Regional’s most successful deals. In addition to his leadership role, Steve is involved in succession planning to transfer ownership to the third generation. Steve’s personal core values of integrity, commitment and gratitude are central to Regional’s culture.
Steve is an active member of both the real estate and local communities and has served as president, Real Estate Institute of Canada, Eastern Ontario Chapter; president, Institute of Real Estate Property Management, Ottawa; president, Housing & Urban Development Association of Canada, Ottawa; past national director, Real Estate Institute of Canada, and member of the Board of Governors of the Ottawa Boys & Girls Club and Jr. Achievement of Canada.
Chief Operating Officer
Dave Wallace Chief Operating Officer
Dave Wallace holds dual positions as both the COO of Regional Group and the president of the company’s EQ Homes division. Dave is charged with leading the transformation of Regional from a third-generation family venture into a fully-integrated real estate investment and advisory platform. He is responsible for strategy, portfolio growth, governance, and operations.
As a dual Canadian and U.S. citizen with over 25 years of real estate experience in both countries, including development, finance, and construction, Dave brings a different perspective to the mix. He is a LEED AP, and has developed LEED communities and buildings in Canada and the US. Prior to joining Regional, Dave was COO of Portrait Homes, a mixed-use and residential developer in Vancouver, BC. Earlier in his career, he was a financial advisor and corporate account executive with Prudential Bache Securities in San Francisco, CA, and he holds FINRA series 7 and 3 licenses.
Chief Financial Officer
Jim McCaw Chief Financial Officer
Jim joined the Regional Group in 2008 and is responsible for Regional’s financial and tax strategy, business intelligence, accounting, and investor reporting.
Graduating Dean’s Honours with a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo in 1987, he received his Chartered Accountant (CA) designation that same year. Post-graduation, he continued to build his professional qualifications, earning a Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) designation, a license as a trustee in bankruptcy, and a Corporate Finance (CF) practitioner designation.
Jim joined KPMG’s Advisory Services practice in 1989, and became partner in 1997, when he established and led the Ottawa Corporate Finance division. In this practice, he performed a wide variety of services including viability assessments, business valuations, restructurings and bankruptcies, and advised clients on debt and equity financing, mergers & acquisitions, financial strategy and divestiture.
VP, Land Development
David Kardish VP, Land Development
David is responsible for Regional’s land department including land acquisitions, syndications, development and dispositions. During his 30 years at Regional, he has become widely recognized as an industry leader in creative and innovative development. David and his team have been instrumental in the acquisition and development of high-tech business parks, retail lands, and master-planned residential communities, most recently including the Citigate Corporate Campus and Greystone Village, a LEED ND community.
Prior to joining Regional, David was a senior planner for the Regional Municipality of Ottawa Carleton, where he was involved in the City’s first comprehensive inventory of residential development lands. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carleton University and a Master’s degree in Planning from Queens University.
Sr. VP, Real Property
Bernie Myers Sr. VP, Real Property
Bernie Myers is the Senior Vice-President, Real Property for Regional Group, and is directly responsible for leading Regional’s Leasing and Property Management, and Tax & Valuation divisions.
With over 25 years of multi-disciplinary real estate experience, Bernie brings the company a diverse expertise in asset management, leasing, portfolio management, and property management. Prior to joining Regional, Bernie served as VP, Asset and Property Management Eastern Canada for Morguard Investments. In that capacity, he directed the asset management of the company’s office and industrial building portfolio, as well as headed the property management team in Ottawa and Montreal. Throughout his career, Bernie has championed, developed, and implemented sustainability initiatives for investors-clients, tenants, and personnel.
Industry affiliations include past president of BOMA (Calgary); past chair for BOMEX National Conference; and a frequent panelist and presenter on industry forums across Canada.
Bernie holds Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Calgary, where he subsequently served six years on the Board of Governors.
VP, eQ Homes
Josh Kardish VP, eQ Homes
Josh is responsible for the daily operations of eQ Homes, a Regional affiliate. Josh joined Regional Group in 2006 as a land development manager, working side-by-side with his father, VP David Kardish. In this capacity, he managed large-scale, master-planned residential developments from acquisition through to completion. Prior to that, Josh worked as a planning consultant for Novatech Engineering Limited, an Ottawa-based engineering consulting firm. This combined experience gives him a unique perspective and behind-the-scenes knowledge that he brings to eQ Homes, which he joined as vice president in 2016.
A multiple degree graduate from Dalhousie University – a Master’s degree in Urban & Rural Planning and Bachelor of Commerce, Josh was awarded the Rossetti Scholarship from the Faculty of Architecture & Urban Planning at Dalhousie University. Josh is the current president of the Greater Ottawa Homebuilders’ Association and a volunteer member of the board of Camp B’Nai Brith of Ottawa.
Sr. VP, Business Relations
Jeff Gould Sr. VP, Business Relations
Jeff is responsible for Regional Group’s business relationship management and new business development. Joining Regional in 1981, Jeff successfully developed Regional’s property management business, positioning it as Ottawa’s premier property manger. Today assets under management total more than 2 million square feet of commercial property, over 2,000 residential units, and numerous condominium buildings as a direct result of his leadership.
A graduate of the University of Ottawa and the School of Business, University of Toronto, Jeff has been engaged in Real Estate and Property Management since 1969. As owner/operator of J.M. Gould Realty Limited, he managed over 3,000 condominium and rental units. Jeff is a Professional Associate of the Institute of Housing Management (AIHM), a Certified Property Manager (CPM), a Registered Property Manager (RPM) of the International Real Estate Institute, and a Commissioner of Oaths.
VP, Tax & Valuation
John Clark VP, Tax & Valuation
John joined the Regional Group in 1988 and has been managing Regional’s Tax & Valuation department since 1991. With over 30 years of experience, he is an internationally recognized leader in tax, valuation, assessment, and real estate appraisal. John is a fully accredited member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada, and his “Clark Report” is widely read by lawyers and accountants throughout the country. Under his leadership, his department has saved Regional’s clients in excess of $250 million in taxes.
John’s areas of expertise include appearing as an expert witness for both court and assessment review board matters, negotiation, and litigation support. He is an authority on a vast range of real estate appraisal types, including investment and commercial properties, located across the country and the eastern Arctic. John has been an active member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada and served as its national president 2001-2002.
Director, Investment & Leasing
Sender Gordon Director, Investment & Leasing
Sender joined Regional Group in 2012 and is responsible for commercial real estate acquisitions and dispositions, as well as the leasing of Regional Group’s commercial real estate portfolio – currently 2 million square feet of office, industrial and retail space. His role includes the sourcing, syndication, and acquisition of value-add real estate for the portfolios of the Regional Group and various family offices. Sender thrives on the goals of each transaction and crafting a deal that addresses the needs and interests of all stakeholders.
Prior to joining Regional, Sender completed rabbinical training in New York and was ordained as a Rabbi in 2010. In 2012, Sender and his wife, Sarah, founded Miles of Smiles, a non-profit organization established to teach English as a second language. The organization, which began in Ottawa, now has numerous branches and an international reach.
Director, Property Management
Tal Scher Director, Property Management
Tal is responsible for Regional’s property Management division, including commercial, retail, industrial, and residential properties. Tal joined Regional Group in 2015, and his major focus is providing an outstanding level of property management, taking care of tenants and buildings in a way that ensures maximum return on investment for Regional’s clients.
His customer-centric viewpoint was developed during his tenure at Aon Hewitt and Mercer as a Human Relations Consultant. There he managed large-scale international accounts with experience in all aspects of human capital.
A graduate, summa cum laude, from the Syms School of Business in New York, Tal earned the Norman Palefsky Award for the most outstanding graduating male scholar-athlete and the Bernard Brown Award for Excellence in Business Studies. Tal now serves on both the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of BOMA Ottawa.
